ShotFlow Spotlight: Benjamin Eppes

Welcome to the ShotFlow Spotlight Series. Each month, we will highlight a member of the ShotFlow team — rookies and veterans! Not only to showcase the talents and professional experiences of our unique team, but what motivates us, how our professional journeys brought us together and fun tidbits about who we are!

SHOTFLOW SPOTLIGHT:

BENJAMIN EPPES, VICE PRESIDENT OF CLIENT SUCCESS

Benjamin Eppes joined the ShotFlow Team in September 2022. Since joining, Ben has been busy learning all things ShotFlow, running the Professional Services Teams and out meeting our clients and partners — basically drinking from the firehose since day one. Somehow Ben managed to find time in his busy schedule to sit down with me for a fantastic conversation, tons of fun facts and even some “Ben Eppes Trivia!”

JEN: LET’S DIVE RIGHT IN WITH A TOUGH ONE: WHO IS YOUR HERO?

BEN: Not a tough one at all. My Grandaddy — he is 95 and going strong. Re-roofed his own house two summers ago. Dug a 40 yard french drain last summer. Zip-lined just last week.

JEN: IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR GRANDDADDY IS A BUSY GUY! THAT’S AWESOME TO HEAR. IF HE NEEDS SOMETHING TO DO, YOU CAN ALWAYS SEND HIM HERE…that is A PERFECT SEGUE to our next question: what motivates you to work so hard?

BEN: I’m chronically interested in everything. I just want to learn nonstop, so if the work involves learning new things, it doesn’t feel much like work.

JEN: WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

BEN: Catching a 24” Rainbow on a fly rod in the Copper River, Alaska.

JEN: IF I’M NOT LEARNING SOMETHING NEW, I’M NOT HAVING A GOOD DAY! I LOVE TO LEARN THROUGH READING. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE BOOK OR AUTHOR?

BEN: I’ll give you three books: Dune, On The Road, and The Great Gatsby. Lately, my favorite author has been N.K. Jemisin.

JEN: you named two of my favorite books! What was the last movie you went to see, and what did you think?

BEN: We saw Bullet Train — it was phenomenally fun.

JEN: WHAT SONG WOULD YOU PICK TO SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT?

BEN: Regulators by Nate Dogg and Warren G.

JEN: excellent choice. LET ME KNOW NEXT TIME YOU HIT THE EAST SIDE OF THE LBC. let’s back it up a bit: what did you want to be when you were a kid?
BEN: A guitar player in a band.

JEN: ARE YOU INTO SPORTS-BALL? I’M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A SPORTS BUDDY!

BEN: If they’re keeping score, I’ll watch it. But if we’re ranking them…NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, Tennis, Curling, in that order. I like to run.

JEN: I WISH MORE FOLKS PAID ATTENTION TO CURLING. IT’S BEAUTIFUL, BUT YOU LOST ME AT “I LIKE TO RUN.” AND NOW I’M HUNGRy…

IF YOU HAD TO CHOSE ONLY ONE MEAL TO EAT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

BEN: It would have to be a cheeseburger with a side of pizza and street tacos. Ice cream for dessert.

JEN: I THINK THAT’S THREE MEALS, BUT I’ll LET IT SLIDE…IF YOU COULD LIVE ANYWHERE, WHERE WOULD IT BE?

BEN: Asheville, NC.

JEN: WHAT OR WHO MAKES YOU LAUGH THE MOST?

BEN: Mitch Heberg came up to me the other day and said “Hey! Would you like a frozen banana?” I said “No! But I’d like a regular banana later, so, yes!”

Thank you, Ben, for taking the time to let us shine the ShotFlow Spotlight on you. Now, back to your bunker! (Just kidding…he doesn’t have a cellar).
